EUROPEAN OPHTHALMIC REVIEW – VOLUME 5 ISSUE 1 – SUMMER 2011

In this latest issue – Volume 5 Issue 1 – Dr Golan et al contribute an article entitled ‘Current Treatment of Retinal Vein Occlusion’, in which the authors note that although laser therapy was the gold standard in RVO, only modest functional improvement was demonstrated in branch retinal occlusion forms. The article concludes that current multicentre studies of intravitreal drugs now present them as a viable option to combine with laser treatment. Elsewhere, in ocular inflammation control, Drs Cho and Mozayan report that with increasing demand for ophthalmic surgery, bromfenac and other treatments are likely to become important components in the treatment of inflammatory conditions after cataract surgery, decreasing pain and contributing to favourable visual outcomes.
